Elevation is an independent, fee only investment advisory and asset management firm. We are proud to work with endowments, foundations, defined contribution plans and individual clients. Our number one goal is to be a resource by providing independent, honest, and competent advice.

Elevation was founded in 2005 by Amit Thakkar to provide high quality investment services. Prior to Elevation, Amit worked with not-for-profits while at a public accounting firm and eventually went on to work for Rochester Institute of Technology in various accounting and Treasury capacities. It became clear that not all organizations were receiving the same quality investment advice as the large organizations. Elevation strives to bring this expertise and knowledge to all organizations – large and small.

Elevation offers a full complement of investment management services including: asset-allocation modeling, investment policy development, on-going monitoring, advisory oversight, fee reporting, and Alternatives Investments due diligence / monitoring.

Asset Allocation / Diversification

It is often said (and maybe overused) that there is no free lunch – except for asset allocation or diversification. If that is the case, we are buying! Asset allocation and the use of modern portfolio theory (MPT) and portfolio modeling is at the core of our investment plans.

Low Cost

Studies have shown that expenses play a very large role in determining long term returns. Elevation uses a thoughtful approach to utilize the lowest cost investments that offer the highest return potential.

Thoughtful Mix of Active and Passive Managers

For Elevation, this also means the strategic use of active and passive managers. There are no absolutes in investing - the best answer is in the middle. As such, such as your investments should reflect the best mix that will provide the most efficient returns.

PRESIDENT

Amit Thakkar

Amit Thakkar is the founding principal of Elevation Investment Consulting. He is a CPA and a 1993 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Amit earned his CPA designation while working at the Rochester office of PriceWaterhouse LLP. In 1997, Amit went to work for the RIT’s Controller’s office in the financial reporting group. While at RIT, Amit spent a significant amount of time working with RIT’s Endowment and working capital portfolio. Duties included portfolio analytics development, manager due diligence, and portfolio modeling / forecasting.

Amit is proudly involved in the Rochester community by volunteering with a number of non-profit organizations including: United Way of Greater Rochester (Investment Committee Chair) and the Seneca Park Zoo (Finance Committee).
